Shipping policy

At Scent Droplet, we aim to pack and dispatch your order as quickly and carefully as possible so your fragrances and accessories arrive safely and beautifully.
1. Processing Time
All orders are typically processed within 1–3 business days after payment is confirmed.
Orders placed on weekends or public holidays will usually be processed on the next business day.
During busy periods, launches, promotions, sales, restocks, or public holidays, processing times may be slightly longer. If there is a significant delay in processing your order, we will do our best to notify you where possible.
2. Shipping Within New Zealand
We currently ship within New Zealand only unless otherwise stated on our website.
Estimated delivery times after dispatch are:
- North Island: 1–3 business days
- South Island: 2–4 business days
Please note that delivery times are estimates only and may vary depending on your location, courier delays, rural delivery, weekends, public holidays, weather events, or peak periods.
Under New Zealand consumer guidance, deliveries from business sellers should arrive either on time or within a reasonable timeframe if no time or date was agreed.
3. Shipping Rates
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your order and delivery location.
We may offer:
- standard shipping
- rural shipping
- free shipping promotions
- discounted shipping offers
Free shipping is available on orders over $79 for a limited time.
Shipping promotions are subject to the terms stated at the time of the offer and may be changed or withdrawn without notice.
4. Rural Delivery and Correct Shipping Selection
Orders going to rural addresses may take longer to arrive, and additional shipping charges may apply where relevant.
Customers are responsible for selecting the correct shipping option at checkout, including the appropriate service for urban or rural delivery addresses.
If the wrong shipping option is selected, including an urban courier option for a rural address, we may contact you to arrange payment of the difference before dispatch.
If an order is delayed, returned, redirected, or requires additional payment because the incorrect shipping option was selected, we may request payment of the additional courier cost before dispatch or re-shipping. If a refund is approved in these circumstances, it may be reduced by shipping fees, rural surcharges, return-to-sender charges, payment processing fees, or other non-recoverable costs already incurred, to the extent permitted by law.
5. Order Tracking
Once your order has been dispatched, you may receive tracking details if tracking is available with the selected shipping service.
Shipping is sent using tracked courier services where available.
6. Incorrect Address Details
Please make sure your shipping address is entered correctly at checkout. Customers are responsible for ensuring that all shipping and delivery details are accurate, complete, and up to date.
We are not responsible for delays caused by incorrect or incomplete address details provided by the customer.
If a parcel is returned to us because of an incorrect address or incorrect shipping selection, any re-shipping costs will be the customer’s responsibility.
Please note that some courier services may not deliver to PO Boxes. Customers are responsible for ensuring the delivery address is suitable for the selected courier service.
If the order has already been dispatched, we may not be able to update the delivery address in time.
7. Delays
While we do our best to ensure timely dispatch, delivery delays can sometimes occur due to courier issues or events outside our control.
If your parcel is significantly delayed, missing, or damaged in transit, please contact us and we will assist where reasonably possible.
Consumer Protection New Zealand says that if a retailer arranged delivery, the retailer is responsible for sorting out delivery problems until the order reaches the customer.
8. Lost, Damaged, or Missing Orders
If your order arrives damaged, leaking, or if you believe something is missing from your parcel, please contact us as soon as possible, ideally within 48 hours of delivery, with:
- your order number
- a description of the issue
- clear photos of the packaging and products where applicable
We will review the issue and do our best to resolve it promptly.
New Zealand consumer guidance notes that online buyers from New Zealand businesses have protections where products are lost or damaged before they arrive.
9. Fragrance Decants and Packaging
Our fragrance products are carefully hand-decanted and packed with care. Minor variations in presentation, labelling, or packaging may occur due to the nature of decanting and product preparation.
Some fragrance products may be prepared from limited stock and decanted from one bottle at a time. This helps us maintain freshness, hygiene, safe handling, and quality control.
10. Split Shipments
Where appropriate, we may send an order in more than one parcel. This may happen if:
- items are packed separately for safety
- part of the order is ready earlier than the rest
- products require different packaging or handling
If we split your shipment, we will do so at our discretion.
11. Delivery Costs and Charges
Shipping costs shown at checkout are the charges payable for delivery based on the information provided at the time of purchase.
If extra charges arise because incorrect shipping details or the wrong shipping option was selected by the customer, we may request payment of the additional amount before sending or re-sending the order.
Consumer Protection New Zealand notes that online customers have rights if delivery costs more than the seller said.
12. International Orders
If we agree to ship outside New Zealand, the customer is responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, local charges, or fees imposed by the destination country unless otherwise stated.
Shopify provides settings for duties and import taxes where relevant for international orders.
